Breck, I read the articles you recommended. They really put me at ease about not hurting my back doing these max lifts. Especially the phrase: “…resultant turn around from dip to drive is sudden, explosive, and violent.”
Now I am twice as scared, but I will be practicing my techniques with light weights. Seriously, thanks for the guidance.

Spent Sunday practicing on keeping my ELBOWS UP…this is what Breck had me do:

    Front Squats

    1 x 5 @58
    1 x 3 @78
    1 x 3 @88
    1 x 2 @98
    1 x 1 @108
    1 x 1 @108
    1 x 1 @108

    30 Thrusters @48lb For Time: 6:18

For fun, did as many military style sit-ups in one minute as possible. (32) I think I’m going to start incorporating this every Sunday!

Looking forward to the workouts for next week!!

    51/m/210
    Did CFWU
    completed modified WOD
    21, 15, 9
    40 lb squat cleans
    assisted pull-ups subbed for L pull-ups
    40 lb thrusters
45 lb should press subbed for handstand push-ups
My watch goes back to zero every 30 minutes and keeps running. It said 2:14, so I thought it took me 32 minutes 14 seconds. But after seeing Breck’s time, it must have been 62 minutes for me. I felt like I pushed through pain and pukey feelings today more determinedly than I have on other days. I still had lots of breaks. I tried to trust that I was not going to die. It may sound silly to be that confused regarding the time, but in the middle of the workout, I always feel like I am blacking out. I know this. It was hard.
I ran 1 mile afterwards for cooldown. Felt like I was drowning.
Now that I am home and recovered, I am just the happy guy who loves doing WOD’s.
