On Saturday, CrossFit Jenks had a couple of special visitors drop in; CPT Dennis R. Berry and Olympic Weightlifter Shane Hamman. Thanks for stopping by guys; hope to see you soon! Also, a special thanks to Trey Goodwin for the excellent Olympic Weightlifting class!

50lb. squat cleans and assisted dips

My cleans are improving, so that I hope to bump up the weight a little in the future. I needed to be forced to do 45 cleans today to get myself to work at them at greater length. My time was especially slow because I took a step away from the bar after each lift to put myself back in proper starting position with held breath, chest up, and really thinking about slow pull off the floor before I really extended my hips, while also concentrating on trying to get under the bar quickly with my elbows in a good high position catching the bar on my delts.
I feel like I am like how to swing a golf club.
My dip strength is progressing, but I am probably a month away from knocking out some consecutive unassisted dips.
Besides the great workouts, the mental part of Crossfit is becoming a kind of meditation for me, but my goal is not to look like the Buddha, just to be the Buddha.
Hey Mark, Great instruction on the proper squat clean! It sounds like you have been really educating yourself on these lifts! Keep up the great workouts!

Did squat cleans yesterday during the Olympic Weightlifting class. I had to see what I could clean and jerk. Maxed out at 225. Tried 235 but failed.
It was a great workout and a great time saturday, and my traps are still sore from it.
