  1. Top of the Morning CrossFit Jenks Cult. Bust out of the runners starting blocks big today and enjoy that 10K run. I love CrossFit, but sometimes I get concerned when the 10K runs pop up. Nonetheless once I am knocking it out and when I finish I am always amazed at how good I feel and my actual times. Before CrossFit I probably put in three times more the miles, if not more, and my times were around the same if not worse, but of course my FRAN and HELEN times and other Benchmark Girls and WOD times were not forthcoming (they were lame). BAM, then all of a sudden with decreased running and CrossFit training my run times stayed on target and my FRAN, HELEN, and WODs improved. I have read and seen some of your testimonies along the same lines, so go out and enjoy the 10K run. While I am not a rocket runner I enjoyed the 10K run today at 45:30. Not a PR but it was nice to go on a long run for a change. Have a great day and Train Hard, Train Smart, Train to Survive! OkieDB Out

  2. Found out that I finished 2nd place in my age group (50-54; 6 runners) yesterday.

I was 51st out of 146 total runners.

18:27 won the race (46 yrs. old). I ran 27:47.

Winning female: 15yr. old at 19:05

I finished ahead of 20 males of younger age than me. That kind of thing is
celebrated by me at my advanced age.

I was 16th out of 29 runners aged 40 and up.

Only 14 girls finished ahead of me. I don’t like the girls to beat me.

OkieDB is right about Crossfit helping folks to run faster. I used to run 35-50 miles a week from my late 20’s until my early 40’s. I started having injury problems that were chronic and limited me to a cycle of run a little, get hurt, gain weight, run a little, get hurt, gain weight, run a little, get hurt. I was very discouraged after about 10 years of this same cycle, and my running shrunk to almost nothing. In my 30’s I had run a 43:16 10k for a PR. I had run a 5:45 mile. But for the past 10 years, I was lucky to run a 10:30 mile. Since starting Crossfit 6 months ago, I have dropped my 5K time by 4 and a half minutes. I have only had one brief injury. I do not understand how I can improve so much when I am running so little now, BUT it works. Enjoy the 10K today.

Five rounds for total reps of:
