So the other day someone at work wanted to know about the “Zone” diet crossfit advocates. After a short explanation, my doughnut wielding co-worker responds “Is it worth it? Sounds like a big hassle to me!”
To the newly initiated zoning can seem overwhelming. So much planning and measuring! Spending 20 minutes making dinner, and then another hour making six more to get me through tommorow is not the most exciting use of my time. It’s worth it though. When you set new PR’s, when you notice how well you feel, when you pass a mirror and see that new line of muscle definition that wasn’t there a couple weeks ago, it is absolutely worth it! Get your zone rx and put it in use and you will be amazed at the performance gains you make.
David and Julie, hope you guys are sticking with it! It will pay off in the end. Keep posting your progress! Now if you’ll excuse me, I have six chicken and veggie meals to prepare.

    Your awesome Danny!

He’s right, anyone who hasn’t tried the zone should. In addition to the weight loss, performance gains and increased energy, I’ve notice staying in the zone has eliminated the often shaky “low blood sugar” feeling I used to get when I wasn’t eating right or eating often enough. That to me makes it completely worth it.

    As Rx’d
    Everything unbroken
    Time: 11:58

Danny is right!! If it was easy everyone would have six pack abs and be elite athletes! Put in the work and you will reap rewards that far outweigh the effort!

It’s been tough getting back up to speed.

Julie and I have been doing pretty well with the Zone.
We’ve found some good recipes and we’ve been cooking at home a lot.
We’re still not super strict but we’ve made major strides compared to our old eating habits.

Thanks Danny, learning about the Zone has really changed our thinking about food! While we are not completely “in the zone” we are moving in the right direction!

BTW, I am finally scheduled for surgery next Tuesday, so hopefully I can get past this & be back with you guys before long!

52/m/190-187-181-185 (just depends what I been sticking in my mouth)
Did some stretching and arm swings and then launched into “Murph”

Did the 1 mile runs at both ends on a treadmill at 0% incline. I did not wear a vest for added weight.
Did all pull-ups and push-ups as Rx’d. Did 5-10-15 reps for all 20 rounds.

My time: 1 hr. 14 mins. 48 secs. (PR, previous best was 1 hr. 25 mins.)

At the half-way point I felt whipped, my head was spinning. The 2nd half took 12 minutes longer than the 1st half. That voice that says, “Quit. Quit. Quit.” was right there talking to me, I just said back to the voice, “I am a badass today, and I only have 50 more pull-ups, and 100 more push-ups, and 150 more squats to go, and a 1 mile run, and that ain’t sh..t to me.” And I kept on going.

About an hour and a half after I finished the workout I got this great endorphin rush and was feeling manic while driving around in my car listening to Rage Against the Machine. Made it all worthwhile. TURN THE MUSIC UP!!! CROSSFITTER ROCKIN’ AHEAD.

ZONE Comment: I have mentioned before that I only Zoned strictly in January this year, but I continue to daily think about structuring all meals according to Zone principles, balancing the Carb-Prot-Fat according to the Rx’d proportions, and trying to eat several meals per day instead of the old fashioned unhealthy 3 meal a day plan. I eat whatever I want whenever I want, and I am very undisciplined, but I usually get back to ZONE, and then do what I want. When I am out of ZONE, I try to manage portion size a lot more wisely than I use to. I have nuts with me at all times, everywhere. I stick a piece of fruit in my mouth anytime. I try to make myself believe that SUGARY CANDY and COOKIES are poison so that I will not eat them. I am good at this lie to myself. I tell myself that Chocolate is required by law to be eaten daily, but only 1 or 2 pieces. No CANDY BARS. Alcohol….well I won’t even talk about alcohol. That stuff is goooooddddddd. (But it dehydrates, adds carbs, and really screws up my Zoning).

    Danny-
If I ever really got in the ZONE, you would have to fear me. Mirrors turn away when I walk by because all that definition distorts them.

Seriously, keep it up Jenks-ers. Keep it up.

11 months of Crossfit and I am still improving. Thanks Breck!

Breck: By the look of that picture I would of gotten out of your way and you could of clipped those extra 5 seconds you needed!! Hate to miss Nancy tonight considering running and overhead squats are 2 of my most glaring weaknesses in my litany of crossfit weaknesses. Good luck to everybody tonight.
