Not a great weekend for “The Zone”.
I had a bad weekend for Zoning. I went out to eat a couple of times but still made good choices. I had grilled salmon both times I went out to eat and kept my portion sizes under control. I was rather proud of myself for doing so good for eating out. It got bad when I got home and saw that new jar of peanut butter calling my name. You know I couldn’t resist it and sure enough, I over indulged!
It is the start of a new week and once again I am back on the wagon and ready for a great week of Zoning. Hopefully this coming weekend will be better.
I do feel like my performance is getting better on my workouts. I set a PR for “Elizabeth” on Saturday.

Don’t have the time!
This is a common phrase I hear all the time when it comes to eating healthy meals. This is also a common statement I hear for being able to eat small frequent meals throughout the day. I thought the same thing about “The Zone” when I first thought about having to weigh and measure all my meals. I couldn’t imagine how much time it was going to take to prepare 5-7 meals a day and also weigh and measure them. From my own experience with ”The Zone” I can say, it actually saves me time and makes me eat small frequent healthy meals.
What made me think of this common phrase was this morning when I crawled out of bed and went to go get my mug of coffee and start making all my meals. I was tired and just did not want to do it. Well to say the least that thought was short lived. I thought to myself that I don’t have the time not to make and prepare all my meals. What I mean is that my day is so busy that if I didn’t prepare them I probably would go long periods without eating and the foods I would probably eat would not be healthy. This type of eating would make me hungry, irritable, sluggish, and to many other things to list. This is why I took an hour this morning to prepare all my meals for the day. Even when I measure and weigh everything it doesn’t take me more than an hour to prepare 5-7 meals. I know it would take me a lot longer than an hour to try to find food throughout the day and I know for a fact it would not be as healthy.
I am still trying to stay disciplined and make my full month. If I had to grade myself this 2nd week into it, I would say I have a B so far. I am keeping my meals balanced and frequent. However, I am not quite sure what my total block intake is somedays but I know it is usually between 18 and 20.
I seem to be gaining some weight since starting ”The Zone” yet I feel like I am a little leaner. I believe this is because I was lacking some carbohydrates in my meals before I started “The Zone”. You will notice if you are taking in good quality carbohydrates like fruits and vegetables your portion size for these will be a lot larger than your protein portions; however, if you are taking in unfavorable carbs like breads and sugars, your carbohydrate portions will be much smaller.
I will leave you with a quote to think about:
“The wise man should consider that health is the greatest of human blessings. Let food be your medicine.”

Staying Focused!
I am still staying focused on my end goal of a month in “The Zone”. I had a good day yesterday but I am not sure exactly what my total block numbers were. I had two meals that were not exactly weighed or measured. However, I still made good choices on the food I ate. The one thing I couldn’t resist was Nicole’s avocado dip she makes. It only contains healthy ingredients and no sugar. I did have about 12 or 14 or 16 but not over 20 small baked tostitos scoops to go with it. I probably was under 20 total blocks for the day.
I know I could have avoided the chips and dip and kept it real strict but I did keep my portion size in control where I usually would have pigged out. I guess “The Zone” is making me more aware of my portions. I call that staying focused!
Today is another great day to be Zoning. I have planned and prepared my meals for today so I am right on track. Here is something to remember:

New start for the week!
I was doing pretty good yesterday for a Sunday but managed to give in to my favorite food temptation. This is all natural peanut butter. I just love this stuff! I ended up eating a whole jar of this over the weekend.
Now it is a new week and I stay so busy it is a lot easier for me to stay on track. I measured, weighed, planned, and prepared my meals for today so it should be a good “Zoning” day.
