Breck and I would like to give a big thanks to Captain Dennis R. Berry, (aka “OkieDB”), for his dedication to serving this great nation and making it possible for us to enjoy the everyday freedoms that we sometimes take for granted. OkieDB is a remarkable soldier, family man and friend. He has been a tremendous help for us here at CrossFit Jenks. In more ways than one he has shown his dedication and passion for health and fitness. From his daily detailed posts, constant motivation, and the exciting, well planned classes that he has instructed. We would like to thank you, OkieDB, you are an inspiration to us all! We look forward to your posts and photos (we’re expecting one of you in your CrossFit Jenks t-shirt at one of Saddam’s palaces)! We wish you a safe trip and expeditious return home. And Remember, “Train Hard, Train Smart, Train to Survive!”

  2. Wanted something a little different today than a 5km and I wanted to work on a couple of my weaknesses (burpees and sit-ups) so I did a WOD that OkieDB sent me awhile back that is named:

    “Bufford T. Justice’s BlackJack Burn”

    3 Rounds for time of:

    21 Reps – Wall Ball-20 lb
21 Reps – Deadlifts (Use Bodyweight)- 170 lbs
21 Reps – Burpee Push Ups to Pull-ups
21 Reps – Hang Clean to Push Press (Use 1/2 bodyweight)- 85 lbs
21 Reps – Weighted Military Sit-ups (10 lb weight plate, put behind head)

Complete your 3 Card Deal of BlackJack (3 Rounds of 21 Reps) as fast as you can. Push it and go for time, wihile utilizing perfect form/technique.

All Wall Ball, Deadlifts, and Sit-ups unbroken

    Time: 29:28

Took a 5 minute rest and thought I would take on the 5km. I made it 1 mile in 7:32 and quit. I took such a beating from “Bufford T. Justice” that I could not continue with the 5km.

OkieDB, thanks for the workout and for everything you have done for CrossFit Jenks. Keep in touch and stay safe! I will be looking forward to some workouts when you return. “Train hard, Train smart, Train to Survive!”

Did a little warm-up and headed out for the 5k run on the road. At the 2-mile mark my right calf felt tight. I have injured this calf numerous times in the past, so I stopped.
    2 miles in 18:12

Then I headed to the gym to see if I could get a Crossfit Total, since I missed that earlier in the week.
Did 105 Shoulder press (failed at 110),
145 back squat (felt tired did not attempt more),
275 deadlift (new PR by 10lbs. – attempted 280 but failed)
    Crossfit Total: 525

Then did 20 unassisted pull-ups all broken up.
Then did 80 assisted pull-ups with as little assist as possible to keep going in sets of 5 pull-ups at a time.

    Then did 35 assisted dips.

    Then rowed a 5k in 25:12
My first 5K row ever. My butt hurts.

I tried to do something like OkieDB seems to do everyday.
    GIVE IT HIS ALL.

  6. Thanks for the humbling words Jenk’s CrossFitters,
You are all to kind and an exceptional family to be a part of. I have had internet outages and problems all day; so, I am sorry I am a little late to thank you all for everything. As I have stated before Coach Breck Berry and Nicole, thank you for everything. What an excellent and top-notch professional CrossFit product you provide. I look forward to and shall return to train with you. To all my other CrossFit Family and friends, it truly is an honor and privilege to serve you all. It is great Americans like yourselves that give Soldiers Pride and Courage to do what we do and feel a sense of Duty to you and for you at home and abroad. I Salute you all. Once again I am Airborne tomorrow and hope to post and get those pictures as soon as I can and as much as possible. Train Hard, Train Smart, Train to Survive! OkieDB Out
