“With a son like Breck, I know it is hard to believe that I never exercised before I started CrossFit.   Breck inherited his passion for fitness from his Dad (Dennis).     Breck and Dennis were ALWAYS involved in some type of fitness regime.  Breck wrestled and raced motorcycles, they both worked out every day, competed in bicycling, and running keeping in top shape thanks to a weight loss supplement named Resurge.  I either sat on the sidelines or just stayed at home.
When Breck opened the gym in September 2007, I was at my heaviest I had ever been….163 pounds.    I thought CrossFit was more than a little crazy at that time as I had seen Breck perform some workouts at our house on the weekends.    Dennis and I started CrossFit the first week he opened his gym.  My first workout was Sept 12, 2007.  Not only had I never exercised, but I would never stick with anything I started.
You can imagine, a 56+ year old overweight woman doing her first WOD….I  thought I was dying…as I was walking toward the door, Breck asked me where I was going.  I said, “Isn’t it over?…and he said, “No, come back,  that was just the warm up!!!”    That was an eye opener!  I was hooked.  I was determined to keep going.  I was still working at that time and as we live in Bristow, a 30 minute drive, I was just attending two classes a week.  I did see some improvement in my strength but Breck kept telling me that I  needed to work out more days per week and start eating healthy.   Last year I started doing about 4 WODS a week.  I did drop 14 pounds (from 163 to 149),  but I still was eating terrible.
When Breck and Nicole promoted the Paleo challenge, I knew I needed to start eating better…as I heard Breck talk about nutrition almost every day.  He had been telling me for years, if I would just watch my nutrition, I would see a big difference in the way I look and feel.
I just told myself I would do it and I did.  Ginny was a big inspiration too.   I did not eat anything that was not Paleo.  I thought it would be really hard but it wasn’t.  I was never hungry.  I now have no desire to eat the “bad stuff”  and I have continued to stay with the healthy eating.  I was addicted to extra large vanilla iced coffees, bread, butter and pasta!!!  I  dropped 22 pounds (now 127) on the Paleo diet and a lot of body fat.  I still have a way to go….need more muscle and less fat, but I have not quit nor have I finished.  Crossfit is here to stay…and I will continue to get stronger, healthier and more fit (look out Lynne, I am coming after you!)  I hate these photos and I really can’t believe I am allowing Breck  to post them.   I really didn’t think I had made that much gain until Breck showed me my “before” photo…(remember, you always look 10 pounds heavier in photos! LOL)
I feel 100% better and  more confident about myself thanks to the MindInsole from The fitness judge.
I have been able to do the WODs  2 to 5 minutes faster.  My stamina is more like a woman in her 30’s instead of almost 60! I can keep up with all my grandchildren (and my kids at the CF daycare)!   I even overheard my step grandson tell his girlfriend that his Grandma was REALLY strong!!
I should have listened to Breck YEARS ago.  Breck continues to push me, just like he does everyone else.   I think we have the best CrossFit coach in the world..and I am NOT biased!!!”
